Our Team



The Weight Loss & Diabetes Center is staffed with experienced specialists working together to help people improve their health and better manage obesity, diabetes and a range of other conditions.

The Center’s team collaborates with Greenwich Hospital physicians in other departments, including Bariatrics, The Sleep CenterCardiology and Orthopedics. The Center's staff is also a resource for primary care physicians seeking ways to help patients better manage issues related to weight and diabetes.
 
Core team members include: 

Medical Director, Endocrinology Services – Yi-Hao Yu, MD, PhD, FACE, CNSP
A board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Yu evaluates and treats weight-related medical and nutrition problems, diabetes, thyroid problems, metabolic bone diseases, and a variety of hormonal disorders. Dr. Yu accepts most insurance plans.  More »
Dr. Yu received his master’s and doctorate degrees from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology both at Columbia University. His prior professional and academic experiences include medical research and serving as Director of Adult Specialized Nutrition Service at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Medical Director for BMS, teaching faculty at Easton Hospital in Wilson, Pa. and Clinical Associate Professor of Drexel University College of Medicine. He is a widely published author in the field of endocrinology and metabolism. Dr. Yu has been Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology since 2005.


Clinical Psychologist – Joshua I. Hrabosky, PsyD
Dr. Hrabosky’s clinical specialty is weight management and issues related to body image and self-esteem. His additional areas of interest and expertise are in cognitive-behavioral therapy, bariatric surgery, depression, and anxiety.  More »
He received his BA in Psychology from Quinnipiac University and his PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Hrabosky completed a three-year fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine before joining the staff of Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., where he specialized in pre- and post-bariatric surgery weight-loss counseling. Dr. Hrabosky has published many peer-reviewed articles and presented at numerous scientific conferences on topics including body image, eating disorders, bariatric surgery, and obesity.


Judith Goldberg-Berman, M.D., Ph.D.
A board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Goldberg-Berman cares for patients with a wide variety of endocrine disorders including thyroid, osteoporosis, diabetes, pituitary, adrenal, and both male and female hormonal imbalances.  More »
Dr. Goldberg-Berman received her B.S. from Cornell University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition from Columbia University. Her research focused on obesity, brown adipose tissue, and thermogenesis. She received her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College. While a medical student she pursued research in the area of thyroid metabolism and obesity. She completed her residency in internal medicine at New York University and her fellowship in Endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with research in the molecular genetics of obesity at Rockefeller University. Dr. Goldberg-Berman established her endocrinology practice in Greenwich in 1994, and serves as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology at Greenwich Hospital.


Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator – Erica Christ, RD, CDE
A certified diabetes educator and Manager of Oupatient Nutrition Services at Greenwich Hospital, Erica Christ focuses on weight management, sports nutrition, and lipid management through behavior modification. She is certified as a health and fitness instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine.  More »
Christ received her undergraduate degree in Communications from Boston University and her Masters in Science dual degree in Applied Physiology and Nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she also completed her Dietetic Internship. Erica has advanced certification as Health and Fitness Instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine, is a certified spin and pilates instructor and received her certificates of Training in Adult and Adolescent Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association. She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator.


Diabetes Education Specialist – Nancy Ryan, RD, CDE, BC-ADM
Board-certified in advanced diabetes management, Nancy Ryan provides diabetes self-management education, along with support and prevention information for those at risk of developing diabetes. A certified insulin pump trainer, Ryan runs Greenwich Hospital’s Diabetes Support Group (see Calendar, search “diabetes”).  More »
She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutritional Science from the University of Connecticut. Following a Dietitic Internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, she worked as Research Dietitian at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Clinical Research Center. She has been a consultant for numerous departments of health in Fairfield County, designing and teaching community-based health and wellness programs. At Greenwich Hospital, she has coordinated inpatient diabetes education, coordinated professional staff diabetes education, managed the point-of-care glucose meter program and spearheaded efforts to achieve American Diabetes Association Education Program recognition for Greenwich Hospital and the Weight Loss & Diabetes Center.
