The Hospital
Founded in 1903, Greenwich Hospital is an integral part of the Yale-New Haven Health System, serving the region encompassing lower Fairfield County, Connecticut and nearby Westchester County, New York. Over 11,000 patients are admitted yearly. The Department of Emergency Medicine records about 35,000 patient visits annually and an additional 14,000 patients are seen in the Outpatient Center. The hospital has clinics in general medicine and all subspecialties.

Over the past 10 years, the entire campus has been rebuilt with 174 inpatient beds, a Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit, an Intermediate Care Unit with Telemetry, a GI Diagnostic Suite with laser capabilities, a Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory and a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory with Direct Angioplasty.

The Radiology Department has facilities for invasive radiology, 64-slice CT, MRI and PET scanning, radiation therapy with a linear accelerator, and nuclear studies.

The attending staff, representing all the medical sub-specialties, provide teaching rounds, consultations and guidance in procedure proficiency.

A full-time librarian oversees a comprehensive medical library and provides educational support and computer searches.

The Greenwich Community
Called the "Gateway to New England," the town of Greenwich features exquisite natural surroundings and cosmopolitan amenities. Its beauty spans miles of picturesque shoreline overlooking Long Island Sound and networks of backcountry roads and historic sites. Rated highly in national and statewide surveys for safety, education and overall quality of life, Greenwich offers a vibrant and diverse professional community, and an exceptional range of recreational and cultural activities.

Located in the southwest corner of Connecticut, Greenwich is just 29 miles from New York City and less than an hour's commute to New Haven. Easy access to major highways, airports and rail service simplifies travel throughout the Northeast Corridor and beyond.

House staff and their families, however, can find plenty of amenities close to home. Greenwich's first class restaurants and shops; its lively artistic community; facilities for boating, fishing, tennis and golf; and its excellent system of schools, libraries and community organizations make it a premier place to live and work.
