Patient Population
Diverse case mix comes from Greenwich and surrounding Fairfield and Westchester counties. Most social and ethnic groups represented. Additional, unusual cases are seen during Yale electives.

Yale Affiliation
Formally affiliated since 1975. Over 130 contact sessions each year between Yale faculty and Greenwich Hospital residents. Up to five months of elective time (over 3 years) may be scheduled at Yale. Yale students rotate at Greenwich Hospital.

Information Systems
Greenwich Hospital has been nationally recognized for its state-of-the-art medical information system. Over 700 fully networked, internet-connected workstations throughout the hospital, in each call room, the Outpatient Center and the resident lounge. Information systems support staff available 24 hours a day. Formal training provided to all house staff.

Resident Stress
Minimized through careful attention to work loads and call schedules. Evaluated by confidential survey twice yearly. Documented low emotional distress, high learning environment and workload satisfaction.

Resident Responsibility
Only residents are to write orders on their patients. Resident surveys demonstrate satisfaction with the level of decision-making autonomy provided by the program.

Full Time Faculty
The Program Director and four additional faculty dedicate all their professional time to the eduction and welfare of the house staff. The faculty is 100% board certified in Internal Medicine, two with additional certification in Geriatrics.

Hospitalist Program
A hospitalist service provides direct patient care and teaching for private and unassigned patients.
