What's New Learn Infant/Child CPR at Home with Kits from GEMS
Would you know what to do if your young one suddenly began to choke or suffer cardiac arrest? Unless you are trained in infant/child cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, the obvious answer is no. But now, you can learn the skills to save that precious life in just 22 minutes—at home, with the help of a revolutionary new kit available from Greenwich Emergency Medical Services. “We were concerned that many parents take their newborns home from the hospital without having learned basic life-saving skills,” says Art Romano, GEMS deputy director. “This kit makes it easy for parents to learn and practice CPR, in the comfort of their homes, on their own schedule.” The “practice while watching” kit, created by the American Heart Association, includes an instructional DVD, reference guide, and a manikin you can use to try out the CPR technique. Kits are available for two age groups: infants up to a year, and children a year and older. “All the adults in a household can use these kits to learn life-saving skills for their children,” says Romano. “Parents, grandparents and babysitters can each learn on their own time, at their own pace. We urge every family with youngsters to acquire one. It’s also a great baby gift for new parents.” American Heart Association CPR Anytime Kits Available from GEMS.
