Community Health at Greenwich Hospital
What’s in a Name?

Same commitment, same great team. That’s what you’ll find at Community Health at Greenwich Hospital, formerly known as Greenwich Health.

“The new name better reflects our regional outreach mission to serve communities in Fairfield and Westchester counties,” explains CHGH Director Kathy Carley Spanier.

With the hospital’s growing reputation for excellence, more than 40 percent of patients now come from neighboring communities in New York.

Community Health was originally founded as a local public health association in 1939 and became part of Greenwich Hospital in 1993. From the beginning, it has focused on preventive health, health education and support groups, based on community needs.

During the last three years, its offerings have increased from 120 programs to more than 200 to meet the growing demand. In the past year, these programs reached some 22,000 people in the expanded service area.

The name change to Community Health at Greenwich Hospital was announced in May by the hospital’s president, Frank Corvino, at a special event honoring “community health heroes” who have strengthened ties between the hospital and community organizations.
