Local Children Design Get Well Cards to Brighten Spirits
Greeting cards support Greenwich Hospital’s ‘Small Acts of Kindness Fund’

GREENWICH, Conn.– Children’s artwork has a way of cheering people up. In addition to that initial smile, a new line of greeting cards gives back to Greenwich Hospital’s “Small Acts of Kindness Fund.”

The idea was planted last spring during Greenwich Hospital’s annual Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. About 150 children of employees participated in an initiative to make greeting cards for patients at the hospital. The cards were appreciated so much that 12 of the young artists, ranging in age from five to 11, were selected to have their cards professionally printed. The artists were honored at an unveiling celebration at the hospital in November.

Every Tuesday, along with one of their daily meals, Greenwich Hospital patients receive one of these child-designed greeting cards filled with happy wishes.

Packages of these cards are now available in the Greenwich Hospital Gift shop. All money raised from proceeds goes directly toward the hospital’s “Small Acts of Kindness Fund” to provide for small gestures of good will for patients and their visitors throughout the year. From emergency transportation for an older spouse to a stuffed animal for a grandchild and gifts for special occasions, these little acts of kindness help to make patients and their visitors feel a little more comfortable during their hospital stay.

For information about cards, call Greenwich Hospital’s Gift Shop at 203-863-3371.
