Greenwich Hospital receives Women’s Choice Award
Recognized as One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience

August 14, 2014 (Greenwich, CT) - Greenwich Hospital has received the 2014 Women’s Choice Award for being voted one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by women. This distinction is the only award that identifies the country’s best healthcare institutions based on criteria that consider female patient satisfaction and what women want from a hospital, including quality physician communications, responsiveness of nurses and support staff, cleanliness and trusted referrals from other women.

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, women make 90 percent of family healthcare decisions. Being named and recognized as a hospital of choice among women represents the strongest and most important consumer message in today’s healthcare marketplace.

“Service excellence and patient satisfaction are the cornerstones on which we’ve built Greenwich Hospital’s culture,” said Susan Brown, RN, Senior VP of Patient Services. “This award is yet another affirmation of our commitment to ensure that each and every one of our patients has the best experience possible while in our care.”

America’s 100 Best Hospitals scoring process is the only national list that focuses solely on female patient satisfaction. Scores for each hospital are taken from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) database, using a subset of the HCAHPS questions that are of particular interest to women. The scoring protocol also incorporates WomenCertified® research on customer satisfaction among women, including a joint study by gender conducted with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  The best 100 scores in each of four size categories – up to 100, 101-250, 251-400 and 401 plus beds – determine the winners.

“Recognizing the best hospitals nationwide that are women-friendly and align with women’s identified preferences is important to our mission, where women help other women with tough, consumer decisions,” says Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified®, home to the Women’s Choice Award, and former publisher of Working Woman and Working Mother magazines. “Most importantly, when a woman sees the Women’s Choice Award at her local hospital, she’ll know the hospital values her experience as a critical component of her and her loved ones’ care.”

Greenwich Hospital also received three additional 2014 Women’s Choice Awards for “America’s Best Breast Centers,” “America’s Best Hospitals – Obstetrics” and “America’s Best Hospitals – Cancer Care.”
