Greenwich Hospital

Urologic Oncology
When a diagnosis of cancer is made, the physician will work with the patient and his/her family to develop a personalized treatment plan. Greenwich Hospital can treat cancer surgically, radiologically, or in combination. If the patient chooses treatment that requires only outpatient visits, our Bendheim Cancer Center offers free onsite parking and convenient, comfortable family waiting areas.

Oncology Services are enhanced by Greenwich Hospital's membership in the Yale Oncology Network, which allows our patients to participate in clinical trials or treatment protocols that are not yet available to the general public.

Greenwich Hospital hosts a number of support groups for patients and their families.

The Greenwich Hospital Advantage
Greenwich Hospital has been an integral part of the community for more than a century, and maintains high standards for compassion in caring as well as medical excellence. Affiliated with the Yale New Haven Health System, the hospital has access to the most advanced medical technology available anywhere. Because of this and its geographic location, Greenwich Hospital attracts some of the nation's most accomplished physicians.

What is a Urologist?
A urologist is a physician who has specialized knowledge and skill regarding problems of the urinary tract and reproductive system. Because of the wide range of conditions urologists treat, they must have expertise in internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics and other specialties. Some urologists perform surgery, as well.

When to See a Urologist
Your primary care physician may refer to a urologist for a number of reasons. It could be for a medical test to diagnose or rule out a problem with the bladder, kidney, or adrenal glands. Urologists work with patients who have problems with infertility, sexual function, or pelvic pain. Urologists diagnose and treat conditions as common as kidney stones and as complex as cancer. When you experience difficulty with urination, pain during urination or blood in the urine, you should see a urologist.
