Overview

Psychiatrists treat emotional, behavioral, thought, and life-adjustment problems. Emotional crises, anxiety, mood disturbances, life stage transitions, relationships, work and parenting stresses and difficulties are among the areas that are addressed by psychiatrists.

Greenwich Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry includes board-certified physicians who treat people of all ages using psychotherapy, medication, or a combination of the two. Some specialize in the treatment of particular age groups; others specialize in particular psychotherapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mind-body stress management, family therapy and psychopharmacology.

In addition, some of the staff have advanced training in the treatment of particular problems, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, ADHD, anxiety or mood disorders or in the use of particular modalities of treatment.

Greenwich Hospital also has a section of Psychology, whose practitioners provide services such as psychological testing, counseling, and psychotherapeutic treatments for adults, children and families.

Psychiatrists with private office practices in the Greenwich area should be contacted directly for consultation or information.
