Nutrition Services
The Department of Food and Nutrition at Greenwich Hospital is pleased to offer Outpatient Nutrition Services. This helpful service has been created to foster good nutritional health, as part of the Hospital's holistic approach to disease treatment and prevention. A Registered Dietitian provides counseling and nutritional advice for patient needs ranging from high cholesterol and high blood pressure to diabetes and obesity. Expert nutritional advice is also provided to pregnant women or for those simply seeking to develop healthier eating habits. Services in specialty areas including obstetrics/gynecology and urology are offered on a rotating basis by experts in these fields. Care in these and other medical specialties can be arranged on a timelier basis in urgent situations.

Who is Eligible for Care?
The Outpatient Center provides care to Greenwich residents who are uninsured, underinsured or fall within government poverty guidelines. We also treat patients who have in-network insurance plans, Medicaid or Medicare.

To determine whether you are eligible, please call (203) 863-3408. You may be asked some preliminary questions over the phone, such as:

  • Do you require immediate care for a medical condition?
  • What kind of services do you need?
  • Do you have insurance?
  • Where do you live?
  • What income or assets do you have?

Based on your answers, you may be scheduled to meet with a financial assessment advisor at the Outpatient Center. You will be asked to bring several forms of documentation to this financial evaluation, such as proof of residency, income and assets. We will notify you within a week if you are eligible for care.

How Much Will It Cost?
You will be charged on a sliding scale, based on your financial status. Although co-pays may differ from person to person, the average is $25 for a medical visit and $15 for behavioral health appointment. Dental services are half the average charge for private care. An adult dental exam, including cleaning, X-ray and a treatment plan, costs about $100.
