Inpatient Care
Located on the third floor of Greenwich Hospital next to the Maternity Center, the Pediatric Unit at Greenwich Hospital provides inpatient care to children in child-friendly surroundings. Our patients receive care from board-certified physicians trained in the area of pediatrics, in addition to nurses and other support staff who are experienced in the special needs of children. Our medical expertise is enhanced by physicians on our consulting and courtesy staff who specialize in neonatology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric urology, pediatric Orthopedics, pediatric neurology and pediatric surgery. In addition to the patient rooms, there is also a playroom where children can play a game, or engage in a quiet, fun activity.

Visiting Hours
Each child is allowed two visitors at a time. Parents may visit 24 hours a day. General visiting hours are from 12 Noon until 8:30pm. Visits by children under 14 must be pre-arranged with the nurse. When you visit, please note that cell phones, 2-way beepers, 2-way radios and other electrically powered devices are not allowed in patient care areas.

Outpatient Care
Nowadays, many of the conditions or illnesses that affect children can be treated on an outpatient basis. These one-day procedures are performed in the comfortable surroundings of our Ambulatory Surgery Center, located on the second floor of the hospital. Pre- and post-procedure care occurs on the third floor in the Pediatric Unit.

Outpatient procedures for children include ear tube placement, tonsillectomy, certain eye procedures and many more. Your physician will provide instructions to follow the night before and day of surgery. Many families find it much less stressful for their child to arrive at the hospital, undergo the procedure and go home the same day. That way children can recuperate in the familiar surroundings of home.
