Greenwich Hospital provides extensive services and treatment options for cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, stroke (brain attack), high blood pressure and rheumatic heart disease. Cardiology specialists offer some of the region's most advanced cardiac care. Greenwich Hospital is one of the area's few providers of emergency angioplasty, a life-saving procedure that restores blood flow to the heart and minimizes the damage of heart attack.

To accommodate emergency needs, the hospital recently opened an additional interventional lab (also called a cardiac catheterization lab) for special procedures. Emergency angioplasties are performed in conjunction with the Yale New Haven Health Heart Institute at Greenwich Hospital.

Hospital specialists also provide electrophysiology for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia, when the heartbeat is irregular and needs to be restored to its normal rhythm.
