Bendheim Cancer Center

The Bendheim Cancer Center, an outpatient diagnostic and treatment facility, combines advanced technology with a nurturing environment to bring the highest standard of cancer care and support services to patients and their families.

Every resource cancer patients need - from oncology experts in radiation therapy and medical oncology to specially trained nurses and counselors who offer emotional support and patient education - can be found at the center. Under the medical direction of Dickerman Hollister, Jr., MD, the center provides comprehensive services that enable patients with breast, prostate, lung, colon and other cancers to receive complex and sophisticated treatment on an outpatient basis.

Located in the Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen Pavilion at 77 Lafayette Place, map, the Bendheim Cancer Center offers convenient parking and pleasant lounges where family and friends may wait while patients undergo diagnostic testing or treatment.

Also at the Bendheim Cancer Center:

• The radiation oncology department with state-of-the-art equipment, including a linear accelerator
• The medical oncology department, where patients rest in reclining chairs equipped with individual television sets while receiving chemotherapy, hormone therapy or other treatments
• Physicians' offices and a laboratory for quick results on blood tests
• A library that includes Internet access and an American Cancer Society Resource Center
• Education programs, screenings and support groups for cancer patients and caregivers

The Breast Center is located in the same building as the Bendheim Cancer Center, enabling women newly diagnosed with breast cancer to immediately access all available resources.

Cancer research and clinical trials are available at the Bendheim Cancer Center through affiliations with the Yale Oncology Network and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), giving patients early access to promising, new treatment protocols and medications.
