Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)
Most babies are born healthy and full-term. But for those who require extra care, Greenwich Hospital is ready with a Level III-A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for sick or premature newborns.
This skylit unit is located next to the Maternity and Labor and Delivery Units. Babies are monitored 24 hours a day by full-time neonatologists, nurse practitioners and specially trained nurses. The NICU contains the most sophisticated and up-to-date equipment to treat babies with special needs.
Parents of babies in the NICU can take advantage of our private NICU Family Lounge located next to the main Maternity Lounge Area. It offers Internet access and educational materials.
If you would like more information about the NICU, please call 203-863-3515 to speak with Stylianos Theofanidis, MD, Director of Neonatology.
The "Tender Bridges" Program for NICU Parents
A newborn's stay in a neonatal intensive care unit can be a stressful experience for families. Through our "Tender Bridges" program, parents of babies in Greenwich Hospital's NICU can reach out to other parents who have been in similar situations and can offer support.
If you would like to participate either during or after your baby's stay, please call 203-863-3655.
