Allied Health
At Greenwich Hospital, there are a wide range of opportunities for allied health professionals, including:
For those interested in audiology or speech language pathology, the hospital's comprehensive Hearing, Speech and Language Center helps both children and adults with a wide range of hearing and speech disorders. The center sees nearly 4,000 patients a year. The Diagnostic Center employs several allied health professionals (CT, MRI, nuclear medicine) and provides incoming patients with a wide range of diagnostic tests. The Breast Center is a freestanding center providing mammograms, stereotactic procedures, needle localization and breast biopsies. EEG-EKG technicians can work in a challenging atmosphere of a fast-paced level III trauma center and many other departments. Medical technologists perform state-of-the-art clinical laboratory testing in a timely and cost-effective manner to inpatients, outpatients and outreach clients served by Greenwich Hospital. The clinical lab completes nearly 1 million orders per year. There are six outpatient draw stations - two in Greenwich and one each in Darien, Stamford, Norwalk and Rye Brook, NY. Nutritionists and dietitians play an important role in helping patients heal as well as adopt healthy lifestyles-including a healthy diet-to stay well. Dietitians are an integral part of the care team, working with cardiologists, oncologists and other specialists to restore and maintain health. They work closely with cardiac rehabilitation patients and are also a part of many community programs offered by the hospital. Pharmacists work closely with the medical team in developing treatment plans for the thousands of patients who come for advanced care at Greenwich Hospital. They have been recognized for automated processes and error detection safeguards. The rehabilitation team, including occupational and physical therapists, see many patients for sports-related and overuse injuries. In addition, the Return to Work Center prepares its clients for returning to work after an injury. The hospital has extensive rehabilitation programs, including cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, which are located in the newly renovated Healthy Living Center a short distance from Greenwich Hospital. These programs are certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Nearly 17,000 cardiac rehab visits are made each year. Radiation therapists provide both curative and palliative services to patients, using the most advanced equipment available. Respiratory care practitioners help patients of all ages who suffer from a variety of chronic lung conditions, ranging from children to adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Their goal is to promote health and restore quality of life. Surgical technicians are a vital part of the operating room team. They work on both ambulatory surgical cases as well as inpatient cases. Social workers offer emotional and psychosocial support to both adult and pediatric patients and family members dealing with the crisis of illness, hospitalization or other difficulty. A wide variety of support groups are offered. Hiring Bonuses |
