Working with your physicians, Greenwich Hospital’s STAR team provides guidance, training and support during cancer treatments through your recovery to help you:
• Build strength and flexibility
• Improve range of motion
• Reduce pain
• Optimize nutrition
• Increase energy

• Improve speech, swallowing
• Increase peace of mind
• Manage lymphedema (swelling)
Lymphedema outpatient program
Often during breast cancer surgery, some or all of the lymph nodes under the arm may be removed. The build-up of lymph fluid may cause swelling of the arm, or lymphedema. As part of cancer rehabilitation at Greenwich Hospital, we offer lymphedema outpatient services. These services include Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT). It combines bandaging, lymphatic drainage, and compression garment fitting to decrease swelling. Before starting lymphedema therapy, patients are asked to fill out a Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire >>
Insurance covers many aspects of these STAR cancer rehabilitation services.
Services are available in our Physical Medicine Department facilities at Greenwich Hospital’s main campus, 5 Perryridge Road, and at our Stamford location at 2015 W. Main Street.
