Anesthesiology

Overview

Anesthesiologists are physicians who administer anesthetics, medicines that prevent patients from feeling pain and sensations during surgery and other medical procedures. They are also  responsible for monitoring a patient's vital functions during surgery and through the first recovery stages after an operation.  Many anesthesiologists also work with patients suffering chronic pain.

The anesthesiology team at Greenwich Hospital provides patients with the  most advanced anesthesiology and pain management options available. Comprised of board certified anesthesiologists and nurses, they offer a full range of  general, regional and local procedures. Specialties include obstetrical anesthesiology and advanced peripheral nerve blocks for pain management after surgery.
