Press Ganey Summit Award for Patient Satisfaction

HIMSS Stage 6 Award
- Accreditation from The Joint Commission, the national accrediting organization for hospitals. The Joint Commission also reaccredited Greenwich Hospital’s home hospice program.
- Designation as a Level III Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons.
- Gold Innovation Prize for continuous quality improvement efforts in the area of anticoagulant use in patients with atrial fibrillation, awarded by the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership.
- "Stage 6" status as awarded by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The award recognizes hospitals that have fully integrated the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model to improve patient safety and quality of care. Greenwich Hospital is the first in Connecticut, and among only 36 hospitals in the nation, to achieve Stage 6.
- The Press Ganey Summit Award, the top national prize for patient satisfaction. Greenwich Hospital has ranked in the top two percent of patient satisfaction scores nationwide over the last seven years.
- A "Most Wired" designation by Hospital and Health Care Network magazine and Deloitte Consulting, for being "ahead of the curve" in using technology to serve its constituents, including patients, doctors, nurses, employees, suppliers, and insurers
- Accreditation by the College of American Pathology for being in full compliance with CAP's rigorous standards for diagnostic and treatment equipment, including mammography, MRI, radiation therapy and lab.
- Recipient of top scores—surpassing national and state scores in all 10 survey areas—of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services patient satisfaction surveys.
- Primary Stroke Center Certification from The Joint Commission. Certified primary stroke centers are distinguished by their exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for patients who suffer a stroke, or "brain attack." For incoming stroke patients, Greenwich Hospital's interdisciplinary stroke team offers a 24/7 rapid response process. Specially trained in the latest methods of stroke care, the team includes physician specialists in emergency medicine, neurology and radiology, as well as nurses, clinical pharmacists, physical therapists and technologists, case managers and social workers.
- Recognition by the American Society of Healthcare Engineering as one of a dozen hospitals nationwide that cut energy consumption by at least 10 percent a year. The hospital exceeded the target with a savings of nearly 20 percent.
- Greenwich Hospital was prominently featured in a textbook for healthcare professionals, Masterpieces in Health Care Leadership: Cases and Analysis for Best Practice (Jones and Barlett, 2007). Nine hospitals from across the nation were selected to illustrate the fervor and commitment that goes into exceptional patient care.
- In addition to these achievements, Greenwich Hospital meets all local, state and federal ordinances and requirements and is fully licensed as an acute care hospital.
- Recent initiatives include the implementation of several measures to improve overall healthcare safety. The electronic medication administration record (eMAR) and bedside medication verification (BMV) systems enabled clinicians to use an integrated approach to enhance the safety of medication delivery.
- Greenwich Hospital extended its reach beyond the hospital campus, making it easier for patients in Connecticut and New York to access medical and surgical care close to home. The hospital opened the Holly Hill Ambulatory Surgery Center to meet the growing demand for outpatient surgical procedures. Greenwich Hospital medical facilities.
- The hospital joined the growing ranks of hospitals nationwide to adopt Schwartz Rounds, an interdisciplinary forum to discuss emotional and social issues caregivers face during a patient’s hospitalization.
