Addiction Recovery

About the Addiction Recovery Center

Only 3 percent of addicted individuals recover without help. Therefore, choosing a program that offers a full spectrum of services to treat the biological, psychological, and behavioral elements of addiction is key to recovery. At Greenwich Hospital’s Addiction Recovery Center (ARC), programs match the patient’s treatment needs.

Individuals 18 years of age or older receive a continuity of care, including crisis intervention, inpatient medical stabilization, outpatient group support, individual psychological therapy and medication management.

The ARC is licensed by the State of Connecticut and is approved by the Joint Commission, the nation’s top healthcare accreditation organization.

Expert, Compassionate Care

ARC’s highly trained, multidisciplinary staff consists of social workers, counselors, registered nurses, and a board-certified psychiatrist. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of chemical dependency including alcohol, cocaine, heroin, prescription painkillers, sleep agents, marijuana, and multiple substances of abuse.

Patients also receive additional services important to achieving a lasting recovery:
• Counselors teach skills to solve problems and deal with stress and family difficulties – all potential triggers for relapse.
• Families receive the support they need to focus on recovery while maintaining the stability of their own lives.
• Patients who have complex cases or other underlying medical conditions have full access to the broad expertise of the entire Greenwich Hospital staff.

This program is one of the only programs in the area that accepts patients ages 55 and older.

Becoming a Patient
Admission to Greenwich Hospital’s Addiction Recovery Center is voluntary. Patients may refer themselves or be referred by a physician.

During an initial phone interview, we will schedule an assessment appointment. The assessment gathers a variety of information, including medical background, substance abuse history, and psychosocial functioning.

During this appointment, an initial treatment plan will be discussed as well. Financial counselors from the hospital are available to clarify insurance coverage.
