Looking to the Future - Changes in Service Delivery for Young Children at Risk for Autism
Tuesday, Sept. 7
7-8pm
Greenwich Library
Cole Auditorium
101 West Putnam Ave.
Speaker: Ami Kin, PhD, Director, Autism Program, Harris Professor of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Yale Child Study CenterIn the past five years, much has been learned about infants and toddlers who develop autism. More recently, novel technologies have been created to identify risk for autism in the first year of life. With these developments, universal screening for autism (recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics) could become a reality. Early intervention is shown to considerably improve outcomes, yet it will also pressure the capacity of those who provide this service. Learn more about how scientists and community providers together can provide a workable solution so that children can be treated early and appropriately by a properly staffed therapeutic system. Registration required. Please call 203-863-3627 or 888-357-2409. Or register online. FREE.

Anxiety may also interfere with household activities and family functioning. Learn about the warning signs parents and teachers should look for, so they can intervene and help prevent complications.
